Information

The Single-Drug Drug of Abuse Test-Pregabalin (PGB) (Oral Fluid) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Pregabalin in human oral fluid at a cut-off concentration of 500ng/mL. Pregabalin (PGB) is a medication primarily used to treat neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and as an adjunct therapy for epilepsy. It works by binding to the alpha-2 delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reduces the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, thereby calming overactive nerve signals. Pregabalin is also effective in managing generalized anxiety disorder. Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, and weight gain. While generally well-tolerated, it carries a risk of dependence and withdrawal symptoms upon discontinuation, leading to its classification as a controlled substance in several countries due to potential for misuse.
