Verticalising Segway – medical mobility aid The Gyrolift is a Class I medical device designed as a technical mobility aid for people with reduced mobility who are able to stand upright. Its non-medical appearance makes this technical aid easier to accept and use on a daily basis, in living, working or care contexts. The Gyrolift supports users in their daily activities by providing mobility assistance. It allows them to move around, position themselves at the right height and alternate between sitting and standing positions, depending on the situation, while maintaining a safe environment of use. Thanks to its compact gyropodic base, small footprint and reduced turning circle, users can move more easily in confined spaces, turn around on the spot and access different workstations without having to make major changes to their environment. The Gyrolift thus helps to simplify the adaptation of the person to their environment and workstation, rather than the other way around. The Gyrolift assists people who are able to stand up to do so, without performing verticalisation in the medical sense of the term. Alternating between sitting and standing, which is recommended for all users at their workstation, is even more important for people with disabilities, as it promotes comfort, good posture and engagement in the activity. The height adjustment function (lift) allows the user to position themselves at the appropriate level to interact, access work surfaces or perform everyday tasks, while limiting physical strain. The accessible and intuitive controls allow the user to manage their own mobility aid. This design promotes quick familiarisation and regular use, closely matching the real needs of individuals.
