With the One Touch Pre-Analytic approach, laboratory staff handle a sample only once. From that moment on, the entire pre-analytical workflow is executed automatically – ensuring speed, process security and full traceability from sample dispatch to analyzer handover.
A central element of this concept is a laboratory gate module. Acting as an intelligent interface between pneumatic tube transport and laboratory automation, this module performs comprehensive automated checks before samples are released to Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) systems. These checks include leak detection, optical unload control, verification of complete carrier emptying and prioritisation of STAT samples. Only samples that pass all integrity and safety checks are forwarded for analysis.
By intercepting potentially contaminated or compromised samples before they reach sensitive laboratory equipment, this upstream control module effectively protects TLA systems from contamination, downtime and damage. Integrated buffer functions ensure continuous operation during peak loads or analyzer interruptions. STAT samples are automatically identified, diverted via a dedicated STAT exit and made immediately available for direct processing by laboratory staff.
All processes are centrally controlled and monitored via a secure, virtualised control platform. This ensures real-time transparency, audit-ready documentation and seamless integration with laboratory IT systems.
