Information
Bowie-Dick Test
The Bowie-Dick Test Pack is designed to detect air leaks, insufficient air removal, and inadequate steam penetration in pre-vacuum steam sterilizers.
Each pack consists of a clear plastic enclosure containing a chemical indicator strip printed with six indicator bars.
The enclosure includes an opening at one end to allow proper air evacuation and steam entry during the sterilization cycle.
The Bowie-Dick Test Pack is recommended for daily use before the first sterilization load. It should also be used after the installation or relocation of a sterilizer,
following any malfunctions or cycle failures, and after major repairs.
The indicator changes color from blue to dark brown or black when processed correctly. Irregular color development, such as lighter areas or inconsistent color,
may indicate the presence of air pockets or a malfunction in the sterilizer.
The Bowie-Dick Test Pack (BDS) is available in two types,
meeting the requirements of EN 285 and AAMI/ANSI ST79 sterilizer standards.
