The Arab Company for Pharmaceuticals and Medicinal Plants (MEPACO–Medifood) was established more than 40 years ago (1984) as one of the companies of the Arab Company for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA). MEPACO–Medifood is a unique company in the Middle East, as it is among the first companies specialized in the production of pharmaceutical products, as well as high-quality herbal preparations, dietary supplements, and extracts derived from medicinal plants and natural sources.
In order to meet the needs of the local market and export requirements, MEPACO–Medifood owns two factories, each attached to a farm where some of the most important and rare medicinal plants are cultivated. These plants are used in the production of pharmaceutical products, dietary supplements, and natural-origin extracts, qualifying the company to be a major supplier of natural pharmaceutical raw materials.
The first factory and its farm are located in Anshas El-Raml, Sharqia Governorate, covering an area of approximately 122,000 square meters. The second factory and its farm are located in Abu Sultan, Ismailia Governorate, covering an area of approximately 46,000 square meters.
The industrial complex in Anshas El-Raml consists of two factories. The first is dedicated to the production of pharmaceutical products and dietary supplements, with high-capacity production lines exceeding 40 million packs annually for more than 126 products, serving both local and international markets. The factory produces various pharmaceutical dosage forms, including tablets, capsules, effervescent powder sachets, syrups, diluents for preparations, and topical solutions, covering most therapeutic groups.
The second factory in Anshas El-Raml is the extracts factory, which represents one of the company’s most distinctive strengths. It specializes in the production of raw materials and extracts from medicinal plants, with a production capacity exceeding 100 tons annually. These extracts are used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products and natural dietary supplements. The extracts factory consists of two units:
First unit: Produces liquid extracts using the latest filtration and concentration technologies under low temperature and low pressure, with a Class C filling room equipped with nitrogen to ensure maximum stability and quality of the extracts.
Second unit: Produces dry extracts using advanced extraction and low-temperature drying technologies in accordance with cGMP and WHO standards, resulting in precise herbal extracts used in various pharmaceutical industries.
The company is strongly oriented toward the future through the introduction of green extraction technology using supercritical carbon dioxide, an environmentally friendly technique that produces pure extracts free from solvent residues.
The Abu Sultan factory specializes in the production of dietary supplements and multi-ingredient, flavored infant foods.

MEPACO–Medifood has also obtained ISO certifications ISO 9001, ISO 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, and ISO 17025, which ensure pharmaceutical manufacturing quality, laboratory compliance, and environmental safety.
