Founded by Professor Steve Bazire MBE and Dr Dawn Price, (former NHS pharmacists), “Mistura” provide unique subscription-based medicines information systems to healthcare that allow patients fast access to clear, simplified, and trustworthy summaries on any medicine in various formats.
The aim of the systems is to overcome the biggest barrier to medicines taking (treatment adherence) to achieve improved health outcomes i.e., Health Literacy.
They present expert-written content on licensed and unlicensed medicines in accessible formats including multiple languages, Easy Read options with pictograms and short phrases, and a read-aloud function, supporting any patients’ individual communication needs.
By improving understanding and reducing confusion, the systems support safer medicines use, improve patient outcomes and eases pressure on healthcare services by reducing repeated explanations and reduces avoidable medicines waste.
It also highlights urgent actions for patients, helping to reduce preventable medicines-related hospital admissions, which are estimated to range between 5% and 20% depending on patient demographic.
Mistura already provides solutions to NHS and private healthcare providers in the UK, and last year joined an international delegation to Romania, helping create new opportunities and strengthening its confidence to scale internationally.
