What is HeProCalc?
HeProCalc is a clinical decision support system (CDSS), designed to calculate Heparin
and Protamine dosages during open-heart surgery and extracorporeal circulation in adults.
The HeProCalc Guided Perfusion System provides supportive information on the dosage
of heparin, protamine and ACT values throughout the operation process and continuously
makes calculations to allow for optimization and control of these parameters in real time.
Displayed values include Activated Clotting Time (ACT), Heparin concentration, Heparin
Response Index (HRI) and total heparin, presented in real time on the screen. HeProCalc
continuously calculates the patient’s heparin requirement to achieve the desired target
value, as well as the protamine requirement for reversal of the present heparin
concentration. HeProCalc acts as a navigator, helping the operator to maintain a clear
overview of these values. Based on previous patient data and response to heparin,
projections are made to achieve optimal control. By correlating ACT with heparin
concentration, HeProCalc enables early detection of coagulation variations, improving
safety and precision during surgery.
